NMRA 2010 Clinic

The NMRA 75th Anniversary Convention,
Milwaukee, WI.  July 11-18, 2010

Description of Clinic:
   Almost all DCC decoders now support the three-point speed table CV2-6-5, where CV2 sets the starting voltage, CV6 adjusts the midpoint speed and CV5 adjusts the top speed of an engine by lowering the maximum motor voltage.

A table with a 30 MPH and a 3 MPH Speed trap for use in N, HO, S, or O Gauge will be given as a handout in this clinic.   With this speed trap table, any scale speed can easily be measured with a stopwatch and a yard stick.

Description of Clinic:
  Part 1: This clinic shows how to measure the continuous (RMS) sound level of your Diesel Horn with a Sound Level Meter. There is a proper way to report your Meter results to others.
Part 2: Measuring the true (RMS) voltage driven by a DCC Sound Decoder into a speaker system. Then calculating the wattage of the measured (RMS) voltage based on the impedance of your speaker(s) (4, 8, 16, or 32 ohms)
